India E-visa online is granted to a foreigner whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sight-seeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, attending a short term yoga programme, medical treatment including treatment under Indian systems of medicine and business purpose and no other purpose/ activity. This facility shall not be available if the person or either of his / her parents or grand-parents (paternal or maternal) was born in, or was permanently resident in Pakistan. e-Visa facility shall not be available to holders of Diplomatic/Official passports, UNLP (UN Passport) holders and international travel document holders. According to the law of the Indian government, it is mandatory to have a passport with a 6 month validity before leaving the country from which they come to India. Passengers must have a valid passport and a print out of the approval ETA (Electronic travel authorization). The application may take 2-3 days to be approved, so it is safest that you apply at least 4-7 days ahead of your flight to India. Once you receive the Indian e-Visa on your email, you can travel to India through a supported airport or seaport.

There are three sub-categories of e-Visa i.e. (a) e-Tourist Visa : For recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, and attending a short term yoga programme, (b)e-Business Visa : For all activities permitted under normal Business Visa and (c) e-Medical Visa : For medical treatment, including treatment under Indian systems of medicine. A foreign national will also be permitted to club these activities provided he/she had clearly indicated the same in the application form along with requisite documents.

It is also really important to understand that once the application has been submitted. you must not start or submit any other application against the same passport number. Due to redundancy / delicacy the Government of India will deny any and all subsequent applications. It is advisable to complete and complete only one form, and not to apply more than one form. No other visa may be issued against the same passport until your previous visa is still valid even if any details in the visa are incorrect. The application can’t be updated or reimbursed until it is submitted or the visa is issued against a passport. It is strictly recommended not to submit any other application at the same time apart from the application initiated.
